About TAYLOR

Taylor Horton is a Licensed Professional Counselor-Associate supervised by Travis Moore. He earned his MS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Texas A&M-Commerce, and he also holds a Juris Doctor degree from Baylor Law School. Taylor works with a variety of client concerns, including: anxiety, depression, substance misuse, trauma, non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI), infidelity, existential concerns, grief, career transition, marriage/family issues, and “failure to launch” in young adults. He enjoys working with individuals, couples, and entire families. Taylor works with individuals from an existential-humanistic perspective, which stresses deeply understanding how clients experience and inhabit their own worlds. This approach also focuses on how certain fundamental issues—isolation, meaning, identity, choice/anxiety, and mortality—shape clients’ lives and struggles. When working with couples and entire families, Taylor relies heavily on theories falling within the systems paradigm. Among many other things, these approaches stress understanding family structure and relational patterns, internal and external family boundaries, and the role of prior generations in shaping present-day couple and family functioning.

In all his client relationships, Taylor focuses on creating a supportive, safe, and non-judgmental atmosphere that nevertheless challenges his clients to heal and to grow. He hopes all his clients feel increasingly empowered to face difficult aspects of their lives head-on, to shoulder the burdens of choice, and to gain a meaningful sense of purpose and control over their lives.
